Check Out Amanda's Success Story
My name is Amanda Chambers and I am a 21-year-old single mother who was a victim of the foster care system. When I was 17 I had already run away from my foster care family and was constantly abused both physically and verbally by my foster brother.
I wanted to be loved; I wanted to know I had someone I could run to. I wanted someone to tell me I was beautiful and that I was worth something. So I started hanging with the wrong crowd, and eventually I ended up pregnant.
Luckily there are people like the founders of the B.E.Y.O.N.D. Program to give people like me a blanket. Thanks to B.E.Y.O.N.D. Program I was able to receive my G.E.D. When my son Daniel was born I had a daycare service for him while I was attending the workshops offered for family planning, financial planning, and early developmental stages of my son.
Thanks to B.E.Y.O.N.D. I am beyond self-doubt and dependency; I am beyond of who I used to be…
I had no one to run to, my foster mother was just too busy finding a replacement for me to maintain her income that she didn’t care that I was pregnant and had nowhere to stay since I was turning 18 in a month. This world is a cold, cold place.
